These days, I spend more and more of my time online not “on the web”, but reading my RSS feed reader.

RSS, or “Really Simple Syndication”, is used to publish frequently updated web content.  Basically, you subscribe to a web site’s RSS feed in the feed reader of your choice (more on that below), and from then on, the new posts will be automatically delivered to your feed reader.  So, in one convenient place, you can aggregate a lot of your normal, daily web browsing activities.

There are many news readers available — for example, if you use My Yahoo as your home page, you can subscribe to feeds there and have articles delivered to your home page (this is what I did for quite a long time); there’s a Google news reader , but what I’ve settled on is the NewsGator FeedDemon — not only is it a free download, but it also coordinates/synchronizes with their other products, which include an online reader as well as NewsNetWire for iPhone.

The point of all this is that I spend a lot of time going over posts in the Intuit Live Community, providing helpful advice to users of QuickBooks when I can.  Subscribing to their RSS feeds has saved me a lot of time in being notified and reviewing new posts.

For those who share my interest in subscribing to the Intuit Live Community RSS feeds, I am providing OPML files (a standard file definition for RSS) for import into your news readers (think IIF for RSS!).  All you need to do is download the file, and import it into your news reader, and you’ll be subscribed!

I’ve created five separate files, based upon the sections in the Live Community — just right click on the links and “Save Link As” to download the files, then import them into your news reader.

Once you’ve imported the file into your news reader, you can obviously unsubscribe to any of the specific forums within the major category.

See you on the forums!
